WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The American Council on Education (ACE) Learning Evaluations has expanded its college credit recommendations for Cambridge International AS & A Level examinations, with more than 40 exams now listed in the ACE National Guide.

In June, ACE Learning Evaluations recommended 11 Cambridge International AS & A Level examinations for college credit: renewing six and approving five new exams. Each reviewed assessment received a recommendation of at least three credits for the AS Level examination, with an additional three credits for the corresponding A Level examination, with some examinations recommended for upper division credit.

The newly approved subjects include Art & Design, as well as several French and German language and literature exams.

ACE Learning Evaluations serves as one of the nation’s leading independent evaluators of college-level content, helping colleges and universities assess educational experiences for potential academic credit. Recommendations published in the ACE National Guide provide institutions with trusted, faculty-driven guidance as they develop credit-award policies.

“This expansion reflects the continued confidence higher education leaders have in the rigor, depth, and quality of Cambridge curriculum and assessments,” said Mark Cavone, Regional Director, North America for International Education at Cambridge. “As more students seek opportunities to accelerate their education, reduce college costs, and pursue challenging coursework in high school, these recommendations provide colleges and universities with an additional independent validation of the academic preparation Cambridge students receive.”

Faculty subject matter experts and psychometric specialists reviewed the recommended examinations through ACE’s comprehensive evaluation process. Reviewers examined assessment content, learning objectives, technical quality, validity, reliability, and alignment with undergraduate-level expectations before issuing their recommendations.

The June 2026 ACE Learning Evaluations report granting the Cambridge college credit recommendations noted that the exams are developed with strong reliability and validity, and the item development process is thorough.

“Compelling evidence is presented that Cambridge International Education is meeting its broad goals of preparing students for life and developing a lasting passion for learning,” the report stated. “Further, examinees can earn college-level credits at the undergraduate level based on exam performance which, by intent, makes a college-level education more accessible to more individuals.”

ACE has evaluated Cambridge exams for more than three years, and these new recommendations reflect the breadth of Cambridge’s academically rigorous offerings and growing recognition of their alignment with college-level learning. Subject exams already recommended in the ACE National Guide include Global Perspectives & Research, Marine Science, and Thinking Skills, as well as career-connected disciplines such as Business, Digital Media & Design, Information Technology and Travel & Tourism.

Cambridge continues to grow strongly across the United States, where schools and districts are expanding access to globally benchmarked academic programs that prepare students for college, career, and life. Today, Cambridge programs are offered in schools across 24 states and the District of Columbia, and more than 1,000 colleges and universities nationwide recognize Cambridge qualifications.

Students who complete Cambridge Advanced courses develop the critical thinking, research, problem-solving, and analytical skills that colleges increasingly value, while also creating opportunities to earn college credit, advanced standing, or placement depending on institutional policies.
